YOUR ACTION IS URGENTLY NEEDED!
Support the Health Care Rights of Conscience Act (HR 940)
The U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) mandate that forces religious and private employers to cover contraceptives, abortifacients, and sterilizations in their health plans will go into effect on Aug. 1. This has serious implications for the Church, particularly in the areas of education, health care, and charitable works. Never before has the government forced Catholics and other citizens of good will to violate their deeply held religious beliefs and the right to act according to our conscience. Congress is expected to act soon in addressing this problem and we must urge our elected officials to include the “Health Care Conscience Rights Act” (H.R. 940) in the next bill needed to keep the federal government operating. Please act today to protect conscience rights and religious liberty! What you can do: Send emails through NCHLA’s Grassroots Action Center at: www.nchla.org/actiondisplay.asp?ID=292. Contact your Representative by phone either through the U.S. Capitol switchboard at 202-224-3121, or through their local office. Additional contact information can be found at www.house.gov.
NOTE TO PASTORS: If you have not already done so, please send your parish reporting form for the “Project Life and Liberty” Postcard Campaign to the Respect Life Office as soon as possible. Postcard signing weekend should take place as soon as possible if it hasn’t been done already, as it is critical that Congress here from their constituents with the Aug. 1 HHS mandate deadline fast approaching. Thank you for your assistance! Feel free to contact us with questions at 508-929-4311 or aledoux@worcesterdiocese.org.

TO: ALL PASTORS
COMPLIANCE AUDIT MATERIALS ARRIVING THIS WEEK

ATT: PARISH MUSIC DIRECTORS IN WORCESTER
FREE MUSIC LIBRARY ASSISTANCE FOR WORCESTER PARISHES
In 2012, a group of music directors, organists and a member of the Worcester Cultural Council formulated a program for all the City’s choral music. The Worcester Music Project is creating a database for all choral music in the city to be borrowed by any organization, group or individual for the purpose of sharing vast libraries of choral music. WPI has donated $25,000 (and the student labor) to create this database which is up and running. All major choruses, including academic and civic, will put their music into the database for others to use. We invite your church to both place your music on the database and borrow the music through them. There is no cost to the parish and a great way to access choral music. You will maintain 100% ownership of your music and can borrow what others will loan. For more information on how to be part of this exciting project, email Jane Pastore at janelapastorela@verizon.net .

FOR CLERGY
OBTAINING INFORMATION FOR HOSPITALIZED PARISHIONERS AT SAINT VINCENT HOSPITAL
The general method of obtaining information about the hospitalized members of your parish remains the same. Weekdays, during normal business hours, call 508-363-9233 and wait for the voice prompt; then, enter extension 22241. Your call will be automatically transferred to the hospital’s patient information desk. Give the receptionist your three-digit parish code number(s). On weekends, holidays and during the evening hours, you must call the hospital operator directly at 508-363-5000 and supply her with your parish code(s). For those parishes that have been merged or renamed, you will have to use multiple code numbers in order to obtain a thorough listing of your parishioners. For patients who have invoked patient confidentiality, in accord with legal requirements, these names will not be available to you.
