Catholic Schools Hold Science Fair 2011

On May 18, 2011, more than one hundred young student "scientists" in grades 5 through 8 enrolled in Catholic schools throughout the Diocese of Worcester demonstrated their creative talents at the annual Catholic Schools Science Fair held at the Plourde Center at Assumption College in Worcester.

St. Mary’s Jr. & Sr. High Students Sprint to Join New Track and Field Team
"New opportunities continue to open up for us,” says senior Veronika Kisiel who will be running for the new St. Mary’s track & and field team. “I love to run. It keeps me in shape for soccer and gives me a chance to work hard to improve myself.”Starting this spring, St. Mary’s will be supporting a new track and field team for 20 to 30 junior and senior high school students.

Worcester Diocese Catholic School Students Feel Safer at School than the National Average
Students who feel safe and respected at school are more likely to be engaged in learning and able to pursue their goals. Student safety has always been a priority for our Catholic schools. Recently our schools took part in The Million Voice Project (sponsored by the Pearson Foundation), a national survey for students in grades 6-12 that evaluates school climate from the perspective of students. In all statements regarding student safety and respect, our Catholic school students testified to an experience of school that feels safer and is more respectful than the national average.
