Through baptism, we have all been made new and become missionary disciples. Need to grow everyday missionaries in your parish? Contact P.R.A.E.
What is P.R.A.E.? P.R.A.E. is made up of committed Catholics from throughout the Worcester Diocese. It is a committee of the Diocese of Worcester formed by Bishop Robert J. McManus in 2009. PRAE’s mission is to assist parishes in building vibrant, welcoming, evangelizing communities and to assist individual Catholics in sharing their faith (evangelizing) in their daily lives.
What does P.R.A.E. do? We offer one day or multi-day workshops and consultations on evangelization and parish renewal. These often involve joint planning with the parish pastoral staff and/or lay leaders. We address our workshops to parish staff, lay leaders, ministry groups, and those interested in inactive Catholics. Workshops can be in person or remote (e.g., Zoom).
GOALS of P.R.A.E.
ASSIST PARISHES IN EVANGELIZING through consultations on evangelization. Meet with parish staff and committees to assist in developing a custom program of revitalization.
PROVIDE EVANGELIZATION TRAINING,especially through introductory and ministry-oriented workshops. Offer catechesis to clarify misperceptions about evangelization.
PROVIDE TRAINING FOR REACHING OUT TO INACTIVE CATHOLICS, through in person/online workshops and courses, as well as coaching and guidance about materials and projects/programs that are available.
COMMUNICATE ABOUT EVANGELIZATION in the Diocese of Worcester through future efforts involving websites, Facebook, and the Catholic Free Press
P.R.A.E.-- Essential understanding of the Gospel of EVANGELIZATION
All baptized Christians share in the call to “make disciples of all nations.”
Every lay ministry provides opportunities to evangelize in word and deed.
Daily personal encounters are an opportunity to share faith with sensitivity and love.
Families, friends, neighborhoods, parishes, and workplaces are where we evangelize and where we are sent forth to share Jesus
Almighty God, wellspring of all goodness and truth, enkindle Your Holy Spirit within and among us, to boldly yet tenderly proclaim Your Son, Jesus Christ, in our every word and deed. Grace us, such that love of Your people consumes us and enables us to go and make disciples in every parish, home, and person, in the Diocese of Worcester, and beyond. And this we both ask and claim in Jesus' name. Amen.
“Always be ready to give an explanation to anyone who asks you for a reason for your hope, but do it with gentleness and reverence, keeping your conscience clear, so that, when you are maligned, those who defame your good conduct in Christ may themselves be put to shame.” (1 Peter 3:15-16)
