Bishop McManus Announced Name for New Gardner Parish

A letter from Most Rev. Robert McManus, Bishop of Worcester, was distributed at all Masses at Holy Spirit, Our Lady of the Holy Rosary, Sacred Heart and St. Joseph Parishes on the weekend of May 23 and 24 announcing the name of the new parish effective July 1, 2015. The decree establishing Annunciation Parish was read at all the Masses.
In his letter Bishop wrote,"Since we are about to do something new, I discerend that the parish should have a different name from any other parish in the Diocese. Annunciation Parish gathers the traditions of the parishes which are closing. The ANnunciation to Mary in Luke's gospel is also the first mystery of the holy rosary. In Matthew's gospel, the Annunciation is made to Joseph. The Holy Spirit came upon both Mary and Joseph and gave them the courage to say "yes" to what the world would have thought impossible. The fruit of the acceptance of the will of the Father was Jesus himself."
