Transitional Diaconate is final stage towards Priesthood
December 17, 2014, WORCESTER, MA -- On Saturday, December 20 at 10 am, Most Rev. Robert J. McManus, Bishop of Worcester, will ordain three seminarians of the Diocese of Worcester to the transitional diaconate at the Cathedral of St. Paul. The transitional diaconate is the final stage of preparation for ordination to the priesthood. All three are currently in their Fourth year of Theology at St. Mary’s Seminary & University, Baltimore, MD. They also studied previously at Clark University’s American Culture and Language Institute while in residence at the Holy Name of Jesus House of Studies in Worcester.
Juan David Escudero Muñoz was born in 1989 in Colombia and is the Son of Juan C. Escudero & Maria E. Munoz. His weekend and summer assignment was at St. Patrick Parish, Whitinsville. Following his ordination he will serve as the Deacon for the Masses on Saturday, Dec. 20 at 4:30 pm at St. Patrick, 1 Cross St., Whitinsville and on Sunday, Dec. 21 at 10:30 am at St. Patrick, 258 Main St., Rutland.
Mateus Monteiro De Souza was born in Brazil in 1988 and is the Son of Valdecir Monteiro de Souza & Terezinha Fatima Vicente de Souza. He completed a weekend and summer assignment at St. Anthony of Padua, Dudley, and a summer assignment at Holy Family of Nazareth Parish, Leominster. Following his ordination he will serve as the Deacon for the Mass on Sunday, Dec. 21 at 11:00 am at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 24 Dudley Hill Rd., Dudley.
Carlos Andres Ruiz Vasquez was born in Colombia in 1987 and is the Son of Juan C. Ruiz & Maria V. Vasquez. He was on a weekend and summer assignment at St. John Paul II Parish, Southbridge and a summer assignment at Good Shepherd Parish, Linwood. Following his ordination he will serve as the Deacon for the Mass on Sunday, Dec. 21 at 10:00 am at St. John Paul II 446 Main St., Southbridge.
