Catholic Campaign for Human Development
October 24, 2016, WORCESTER, MA -- Thirty-one grants totaling $14,700 are being presented today as part of the Catholic Campaign for Human Development. The collection is taken up nationwide each year on the week before Thanksgiving and 25% of the donations are used for local organizations who are working to combat poverty and the root causes of poverty in America. The grants are being presented by Most Reverend Robert J. McManus, Bishop of Worcester, on behalf of the local CCHD committee at a ceremony
at 1 pm at Clark University LEEP Student Engagement Center, 931Main Street, Worcester, in SECOND FLOOR CONFERENCE CENTER. The recently completed building is next to St. Peter Parish in Worcester.
The Catholic Campaign for Human Development is the domestic anti-poverty program of the U.S. Catholic Bishops, working to carry out the mission of Jesus Christ "... to bring good news to the poor ... release to captives ... sight to the blind, and let the oppressed go free." (Luke 4:18)
