Physician Assisted Suicide

“The Catholic Bishops of Massachusetts stand united in our strong opposition to Physician Assisted Suicide. It is an affront to life and a dangerous precedent for determining end of life issues. Physicians are trained to care for the ill, not to hasten death.”

The Massachusetts legislative session ended on July 31, 2024 with no additional movement on this legislation. The next legislative session begins in Jan. 2025. The Massachusetts Catholic Conference continues to be vigilant on this issue.  If action is needed in the future, information will be available at www.macatholic.org, publicized in parish bulletins, and sent through the Respect Life Office's email list.
