Travel groups are required to make their trip arrangement with Sr. Judith and should plan on travelling together as a group. American Airlines is the preferred airline as it offers the best rates and luggage allowances (carry-on plus one 50 pound checked bag). East Coast groups should leave from Boston Logan. Out-of-state groups are asked to coordinate travel with Sr. Judith to connect with her prior to arrival in Haiti, usually in Miami. Early morning flights are required (usually between 5 and 6 a.m.) and groups should plan on arriving in Haiti by noon.
Copies of Flight Itineraries will be provided by the Haitian Apostolate Office.
A two-hour meeting on “Haitian Cultural Immersion” is required before leaving for Haiti. For out-of-state travel groups, a meeting can be held via Skype if necessary.
It is mandatory that you visit your primary care doctor and receive necessary shots needed before the trip
Please be advised that changes in the daily itinerary may need to be made.
If there is a travel advisory in effect, the Bishop of the Diocese of Worcester may require postponing the trip.
Travel Insurance is recommended.
Any items required for your mission project need to be shipped in advance (construction materials and tools). You are responsible for all shipping costs. Arrangements for shipping must be coordinated through the Haitian Apostolate office 2-3 months in advance. Consider travelling light and using some of your 50-pound baggage allowance to bring items for your mission project or to share. Paying for additional luggage is another option for project items, such as school supplies, craft items, candy, small toys, etc.
